Visited from Australia. A real pinch-me moment. Hugely busy at St Andrews. Sadly, couldn't see some things as either too late in the day or still travelling just before Spring. So, check the website details . Wonderful buildings and then there is the course! Many hundreds of people walking along the beach.

What an incredible experience! Seen it so many times on TV and playing it on the playstation but to walk the fairways where so many legends have walked was something else! The service was top drawer, our starter was a really nice bloke took pictures of us on the 1st tee and gave us a gift at the end which was a nice touch. Cant wait to come back to this magical place.

The world's oldest golf course, impeccably maintained and open to the public.
It's easy to appreciate the site's outstanding location, with views of hills on the horizon, and the iconic Swilcan Bridge in the foreground.
The identity of St Andrews is inextricably linked with golf, with shops, hotels and facilities throughout the city connected to the sport. Whether or not you're a golfer, this world famous course is worth a look.

The Old Course (also known as the Old Lady and the Grand Old Lady) in St. Andrew’s, Fife, Scotland is a gorgeous, historic spot and the birthplace of golf. They actually waved our tour bus on and we drove onto the first hole, which was a nice treat. It’s set right beside the ocean and the famous beach from the movie ‘Chariots of Fire.’ The ruins of St.Andrews
The Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St. Andrews was founded in 1754 and is the oldest in the world. The Old Course is still a public golf course and you can even walk on it without being a member or paying to play. This local club actually controlled golf rules in most of the world until 2004. A fun fact: James II of Scotland banned golf in 1457 because men were playing too much golf instead of practicing their archery.

We played the Old Course today in Mid December with mats.
The course is stunning. It is in immaculate condition. There are a lot of improvement works going on with the bunkers and tees
However there is nothing to fault.
The staff are fantastic and very helpful and welcoming.
The ground staff are doing an amazing job.
Because it is free draining on sand any wet weather has little impact.
This is one of the best courses I have played on and certainly merits all the rave reviews and rankings it receives.
